You can long-press the keyboard symbol and drag it to the opposite corner. That will move it out of the way and allow you to tap items that may be covered by the keyboard symbol.

I want that keyboard symbol gone!

It does great disservice and degradation of functionality to a personal computing device which functioned better prior to IOS15 update

It was stated nowhere in the list of updates this would happen. If I would have known this would have happened, I would have NEVER updated

Moving it does not help, It only moves back to where it covers send buttons in some messaging apps

Thanks for the response; however, I don't care about dictation or moving the keyboard symbol as I did NOT ask about that and that certainly doesn't solve my issue

I'm aware the changes in IOS 15, it seems like a lot, and not everyone will like all changes, again, like I told the other user...

Weather you're trolling message boards here or you just felt compelled to waste your time and mine giving information not pertaining to my question, I think its safe to say "consumers" don't want distasteful, and/or inaccurate, and/or other responses not pertaining to their concerns.

Do you see the response from "Darklingwaterfae" user? That is an example of how "consumers" concerns should be addressed.

Excuse me?!

I DO NOT “troll” message boards.

I am a regular and active contributors here.

Virtually NO ONE here works for NOR represents Apple.

I do not work for Apple. I do not represent Apple

Virtually, everyone who posts here are just Apple product users, here, just like you.

I am sure you are going to find many other iPadOS 15 features you will NOT like or have difficulty with

I provided you with a valid link, to voice your product and concerns/issues/problem with the latest OS, DIRECTLY to Apple, itself .

Whether you choose to avail yourself of the use of this product/software feedback link to Apple, is entirely up tp you.

Good Luck to You!

Whether you consider your post a product of trolling or not, nobody cares to hear responses from someone like yourself that does not accurately answer their question. It's a waste of time; it wastes your time and it wastes the person's time who originally posted the question.

Again, I don't care about anyone's commentary not pertaining to solution I'm looking for. I don't care about what you have to say on whether or not you think I may or may not like all the new features. I do not care about your links you post to wherever they lead to.

And yes, luck was on my side as a user who actually understands how to appropriately respond answered my question accurately. If you don't think you can do this, I suggest finding something else to do that doesn't involve supplying helpful information to people

While it’s not completely true that “removing this feature is not possible” as other commenters have demonstrated, I am interested in how one “can move this feature on the lower-left…” permanently. You can see why I want this solution:

I can type in the correct notation to enter links, but I cannot do anything to submit my text except for selecting the “REPLY” link; so, I’m okay with the left side position of this feature.

Hence, I don’ t believe I want to completely disable the feature right now, but when I try to drag it to the left, the text box that I am trying to write in zips up the screen and disappears after which I cannot get the text box back even when I drag it back to its original position, as this short video clip shows:

Gotta say this icon that shows up in all my apps like doscord and messenger is the single most annoying “feature” ive ever come accross. It block the send button on most apps and cant be removed? Apple puts all this effort into making IpadOS more computer like but totally fumbles the ball when it comes to making a keyboard experience usable for cosumers. I cant imagine how enraged some people are at this if they arent savy enough to find support forums like this.

also lol @ some of you defending apple and their terrible design decisions

Thank you thank you thank you for this!!! For years I’ve used Google Docs for editing using the Comments function without a problem, yet this week, when I opened Docs, that blasted little symbol was in the bottom righthand corner. Every time I needed to write a comment, the ‘send’ function was covered up by the keyboard symbol, and I had to manually move the symbol out of the way to actually post my comment…which slowed my work down immensely.

Thank you again—you’re a life saver!

Apple - not only should you make issues like this easier to discover and correct but you should insure that your “community specialists” know what they are talking about.

Apple doesn't read here for suggestions or feedback. You can let them know your thoughts here:

Or, maybe just accept that that answer was given back in October and has already been called out as incorrect and that there's not much point in beating a dead horse.

Some users, like me, constantly use keyboard shortcuts and the procedural shortcuts features.

I use both of these a lot in these Apple Support Community.

So, disable-ing keyboard and procedural shortcius is NOT an option for me, nor a “real” fix OR solution to this issue.

The fact is, if you have to disable one feature to fix another feature of an OS, this is NOT a real fix or solution, at all!

In reality, that small rectangle really cannot be removed without disabling some other important feature that maybe needed by other users.

Not really a “fix”, but a “kludgey” work-around.

”Not everyone is going to like every single change…” - Really?

Metaphor: “GM upgrades their new line of SUV’s. One of the latest instrumentation features allows the left turn signal to always be activated unless you are intentionally making a right turn and activate the right signal. Some drivers may not like this feature but those driving who find it difficult to activate the signal for left turns have requested the feature. If you would like to return to the ability to drive without your left turn signal activated, we need thousands of GM owners to contact us to complain about this problem we are already aware of. When this feature was installed we had a disgruntled engineer who initiated the design modification without checking for unintended consequences. Thank you for being a loyal GM customer.”

Grade to Apple on this upgrade: D-
