I have a cellular contact add-on for my watch. Works perfectly in UK, I can make/receive calls completely independent of my phone. However it won't work in Greece. I have data roaming on. IPhone works fine. Vodafone say the issue is with Apple not them. They say Apple restrict roaming on watch. They also say that other smart watches such as Samsung work in Europe. This doesn’t make sense to me.

Thanks but why does Apple not support roaming?
We are just users like you volunteering in the forum. Apple does not tell us this kind of information.
Part of me would assume it has something to do with pigging backing off of the iPhone number and supporting that under roaming is non-trivial. Or the agreements Apple has with the carriers that support the iPhone do not allow it. Your guess is as good as anyone's.
Apple watch does not support roaming.
