iPhone storage says zero KB used

The built-in storage space display refuses to detect how much space is being used on my iPhone. It consistently says that 0 KB of space is being used, when the real number is obviously much higher. It won't recognize certain apps as having Documents & Data, even though some of them have several GB. Is there any way to reset this and get it to display an accurate number?

To solve the problem of "0 storage used," Apple support told me to back up my iPhone on iCloud, then wipe my phone, and restore using the iCloud backup. I am reluctant to try this, to say the least, especially since one of the repliers to this problem says that this fix did not work for them. Hey, Apple, send us an update that fixes this problem!

Ask and yes shall receive. Simply update your iPhone to the newest release which came out today, iOS 15.1. Memory utilization is now accurately reflected after the update.

I was having this problem as well. Reseting the phone didint work. I just tried connecting my phone directly to my Mac (which I havent done in years) and I noticed two things:

1) I could correctly view the storage in the phone.

2) I was able to successfully update to the latest rev of iOS (15.1).

Now that I'm on 15.1, I no longer have the "iPhone Storage says 0KB used" problem when I view from my phone.

Hope this helps!

Everyone I personally know who was experiencing this - friends and co-workers - and every demo phone in an Apple Store - has had this issue fixed by installing iOS 15.1.

However it is not explicitly mentioned as a resolved issue in the iOS 15.1 release notes:

If you are still experiencing this issue, notify Apple Support:

Doesn't matter to any of us here what phone platform you choose. It is odd that you are the only person I've see who is still have this reporting issue. There are at least 10 iPhone's in my small office. Every single one was fixed with iOS 15.1.

What I would do if I were you then, would be backup then restore.

Please check what the phone shows in General>About. Capacity should be greater than Available (before, on phones that showed 0KB, Available was somehow becoming greater than Capacity). The value in General>iPhone Storage does take some time to update. If it doesn't fix itself, try restarting the phone. If it still doesn't work, you may want to contact Apple Support.

I had same issue since upgrading to new iphone 13. I did call Apple last week.

the rep checked with the techies.

their only 2 suggestions:

  1. update to iOS 15.1
  2. if that doesnt work, restore phone.

after updating to 15.1, still said Zero storage. Thank goodness I was too tired to restore at the time. Because next day, phone showed 70+ GB storage !

good luck to y’all.
