Music player and locked screen - iOS15

is anybody else having the music player showing up on lock screen when a Bluetooth device is connected. (I’ve done all of the troubleshooting steps without success but I haven’t even used the music player since installing iOS 15 ). It seems to be triggered by connecting to a Bluetooth device, in my case, hearing aids. This issue existed in iOS 14 too but Apple addressed that bug, but after installing iOS15 it is now recurring on my iPhone 12pro.

Update 15.2 seems to have fixed this issue. My iPhone 12 no longer displays the music player on the locked screen after connecting my Bluetooth hearing aids. I’ve connected and reconnected multiple times since the update was installed and no music player has reappeared on my locked screen.

On my iPhone I can temporarily stop the music player from appearing on the locked screen by selecting the airplay “button” on the locked screen and the choosing iPhone rather than the Bluetooth device the player is showing. After choosing iPhone the player no longer shows up on my locked screen until I lose the device connection and it reconnects. The same locked screen display problem occurred with ios14 but Apple eventually corrected it. I am waiting for the ios15 update that will address this.

I have an older iPhone (iPhone 5 SE) and I upgraded from iOS 14.x to 15.1 and I started to get the random music playing issue.

The first time it happened is when I asked Siri for directions and she opened the Maps app. I have 3 music apps and couldn't figure out which one was playing because the only app showing open was maps. I had to manually open and then close Apple Music to get it to stop. I restarted the phone several times, but it still randomly plays music when I get in my car and bluetooth pairing occurs.

Since Apple Music has become fairly worthless without paying Apple, I solved the problem (I hope) by simply deleting the Music app entirely. Buh Bye.

I don't have the Apple Music App installed on my iPhone and it still randomly shows Now Playing on the lock screen but nothing it listed in Now Playing. It shows Now Playing after I use an app that plays/streams music/video (Youtube, Plex, Spotify etc. (I always close the apps when I'm finished using them, kinda an OCD thing)) Only way I can get rid of it its to shut the phone down then turn it back on again.

There is no notification choice for Apple Music if you're not subscribed, or at least there is none on my 13 running 15.2, however turning the "Lock Screen" option off from "My Account" removed it from my lock screen until I played a track in the Music app - then that track is showing on the lock screen. Apple needs to fix this. I wonder if anyone from Apple monitors these boards.

Hello Jimeg,

Thanks for reaching out through the Apple Support Communities about the Music app unexpectedly appearing on your Lock Screen.

Has this occurred with multiple Bluetooth devices?

Does the Music app stop showing up on your Lock Screen if you temporarily disable Bluetooth?

Is your iPhone updated to the latest iOS 15.0.2? Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Also, does restarting have any impact on this behavior, even if only temporarily? Restart your iPhone

Hopefully those details will help to further isolate this behavior.

Take care.

I’m running iOS 15.3.1, don’t even have Apple Music installed on my devices (because I don’t use them), and I STILL get the player on my lockscreen all the time. The only way I can get rid of it is to shut down the device and restart it. Also, I always keep my Bluetooth off, but for some reason it randomly turns on all by itself and drains my battery. I have an iPhone X and and iPad Pro. This happens too often for Apple to not have a fix for this issue.

I disagree about deleting Music and it will fix it. I have never used Music and I deleted the Music app as soon as I got my devices. This has not solved this problem. I still get the music player on my Lock Screen and can’t get rid of it. Apple needs to find a permanent solution to this problem. The only way I have been able to get it off the Lock Screen is to shut down my device and restart it. It’s annoying to have to do this all the time.
