Calendar app changes time for event to four hours earlier

Whenever I edit an all-day event to make it for a specific time, after I save that event, the app changes the time to four hours earlier. So if I edit an all-day event and make the start time 12pm, after I save it, the app changes the start time to 8am. I have the correct time zone set and and Time Zone Override is enabled but it keeps happening on both my iPhone and iPad.

Hi- this exact thing is happening to me with my Apple calendar. My daughter said it’s happening to her as well in her iPhone/Apple calendar. This seems to be an issue on the Apple side. Please advise if you can log a defect with your Apple product team.

Yes, I totally agree. Once I dropped Google calendar all the issues I had with my calendar went away.

Not all external third party calendar issues can be fixed by Apple. Since Google knows that, there’s little incentive for them to fix a problem that makes Apple customers upset with their biggest competitor… Apple.

For those of us caught in the middle, getting upset or finding who’s at fault, doesn’t fix anything. Just pick the best available (perhaps compromised) option and move on the the more important things in life.

I spent a considerable amount of time some pages ago working out from user evidence that the common factor was Google's calendar. No other calendar provider causes this problem on iphone.

I attach no blame to Google I merely say that the fix for Apple users with this fault is to stop using Google.

Call it a workaround if you feel better but for me it was a permanent fix some years ago.

The idea to swap to droid phones is equally valuable as a workaround. If you love Google ecosystem then go that way, The newest Samsung is slower than ip13 but a reasonable phone.

I see almost the same behaviour, whenever I edit an all day event to make it for a specific time; changing an all day event to start at 10:00, after saving it, it makes the start time one hour later to 11:00. Then I need to edit it again to set it to 10:00 and save it, then it will take the correct time. Seems like basic calendar functionality that’s not working as expected. Seeing this on iphone and ipad.

Tacking onto this thread as I have the same exact issue. Switching all day event to a specific time moves the event 4 hours ahead of where it should be after a few seconds. Then when I edit it a second time it works correctly. This thread is quite thorough and it seems to be a bit of a circlejerk as Apple puts blame on Google and Google puts blame on Apple. It's not a major issue, the work around is simply editing the event twice, not so bad. But it is an annoying bug and I have have the issue consistently for quite awhile at this point, possibly as long as a year or so. Oh well, just want to pile on and see if this thread leads to any solutions in the future. Cheers.

WoahSango's comments described my issue as well. I just want to add a little for future viewers...

The issue appears to be due to the communication between Gmail and the iphone as my adjustment is 6 hours earlier, the exact difference my Gmail time zone setting is set up for (i.e. GMT-6:00). When I change my time zone in Gmail calendar settings to GMT-0:00, the editing error on my iphone goes away.

I'm hoping that this extra tidbit of info. helps someone find a permanent solution.

I have the exact issue as all others complaining of this. XR. Mine is 5 hours ahead. It drives me crazy, my 8am appointment is 3am (-5hrs). I’ve tried everything under the sun.

Do you use Gmail and Google Calendar? Could this be the issue. I cannot delete Google, I use Gmail at work and it’s all synced to my phone. The location on my work computer is correct.

Thank you all for. I reported to Apple.

@Tatjanmama thank you and I’m glad that solution works for you. However, for myself, and I’m sure many others here, this is not an acceptable solution. I use my gmail calendar. I use it on my PC and elsewhere. I do not own a Mac and have no intention of switching to Apple iCloud calendar. This solution is switching calendar platforms rather than correcting the bug existing on gmail on iPhone. But am happy it works for you and thanks for sharing as others may be satisfied with this as well.
