Calendar app changes time for event to four hours earlier

Whenever I edit an all-day event to make it for a specific time, after I save that event, the app changes the time to four hours earlier. So if I edit an all-day event and make the start time 12pm, after I save it, the app changes the start time to 8am. I have the correct time zone set and and Time Zone Override is enabled but it keeps happening on both my iPhone and iPad.

Hi- this exact thing is happening to me with my Apple calendar. My daughter said it’s happening to her as well in her iPhone/Apple calendar. This seems to be an issue on the Apple side. Please advise if you can log a defect with your Apple product team.

I have also tested your instructions without any shift away from time I set.

I suggest you add your iCloud account in Settings, Calendars, Accounts if you have not already done so and repeat the test on that calendar. If that test is ok then as has slready been suggested your Google account is based in another time zone or has a technical problem.

That’s it !!!

Per your suggestion I substantiated that this calendar anomaly does not occur in either my iCloud or Outlook calendars but most certainly does in my Gmail calendar. I will go figure out how to change the time zone in the Gmail calendar and verify the root cause fix.

Thank you very much!

It doesn't solve it but hopefully the other members will take chuckbl's original advice and contact the third party providers.

One more thing to try. Third party VPN from the app store fool your ecosystem into thinking that you are in a different country (that's their raison d'etre) but that can play havoc in apps where time zones are important

If you got a VPN from the app store they really have no place on an iphone especially now that Private Relay is available .

Thank you. I was trying to go to the home calendar first to create the event, not creating the event and then choosing the calendar as you illustrated. I successfully created an “all day” event, then went back to edit the time from “all day” to specific hours. The times I entered stayed the same and did not jump back five hours as it does in my Gmail calendar. You were very helpful and I really appreciate it. My problem must be with Gmail. Does anyone know how to fix that problem?

Part of diagnosis is to establish where a problem is not as well as where it is.

It looks like it is specific to Google calendar only and is not caused by the usual VPN time and place modifiers.

Anyone with a PC or Mac or even a droid can test if this is restricted to iphones. I can't test it because I don't have the Google problem that you do and neither did ChrisJ4203.

This has been raised in the senior advisers forum and no remedy has been proffered there either.

Meanwhile I can only refer you to the earlier advice of the Community Specialist and find a Google support forum or wait for someone else with the issue to find a remedy here.

Personally I moved to iCloud calendar some time ago.

Yes, I just tested it and it “time-jumped” the test event I made on my Gmail calendar, but not the test event I made on my iCloud calendar. That’s interesting and helpful to identify, but I have no interest in using the iCloud calendar and want to continue exclusively using my Gmail calendar. What should I do now?

This time shift issue persisted whenever I used my Google calendar to set meetings or appointments, even after I verifying online, as well as on all my Apple devices, that all Gmail related calendar settings are correct.

The workaround that solved this problem for me, though it may not be suitable for some others, was to use iCloud as the calendar from which all meetings and appointments are sent across my Google, Apple and Outlook accounts.

Since a very small percentage of iOS users with Google email and calendar have this issue, the probability is that it’s an obscure setup issue in Google. Irrespective, fixing the blame doesn’t fix the problem. The good news is that there are work-around solutions available for those that experience this issue.

So no fix yet? I’ll give my story then. iPhone 6s, xs max, 11 pro and 13 pro. Happens on all of them. Messed with all the setting and couldn’t fix it. My work around, I have two. I use google calendar app when I input a lot because it doesn’t change the time. Otherwise when I use iCal I set the time, wait 5 sec then go back in and set it again. It keeps the 2nd time I change the time. I’ve tried everything. I wish apple would get my data and fix the issue. I run a business and apple has made things worse since Jobs passed. You think that’s enough to get apple to contact me to fix the issue?

thanks
