iPhone 12 Pro can't send photos or videos via iMessage.

When I try to send a photo to anyone, the blue progress bar shows up, stops for a long time, then the red circle with the exclamation point appears saying "Not Delivered" or "Message Send Failure". This issue started yesterday (10/16/2021), as I'm always sending memes.

A photo won't go through whether I'm on wifi or data. I've tested it:

My sister, mom, and I are on the same T-Mobile family plan (Magenta Data). My sister was able to send me a photo on LTE data. On my mom's phone, I was able to send two different photos to my phone successfully (one via wifi and the other via LTE). I switched from 5G to LTE, and I still can't send a photo.

I can send photos on other apps, such as Telegram and Instagram. I also can AirDrop photos.

I've turned iMessage off then back on. I've reset Network Settings. I made sure MMS Messaging is turned on. I've checked for iOS update and carrier settings update. I've googled and read different articles, and I've tried their suggestions.

My phone details: iPhone 12 Pro; iOS 15.0.2

My sister: iPhone X

My mom: iPhone 8

I'm out of ideas. I don't know whether this is a phone issue or a network/carrier issue. Do I talk to T-Mobile or Apple Genius? Any help is much appreciated! :)

Hi Cristhian,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with sending photos with iMessage and MMS. We're happy to provide some information to assist.

Do you have any message forwarding set up on your iPhone or with other devices used? If so, test with the forwarding off. The article here has the steps to help you temporarily disable and test: How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac

Also, as you've completed some great troubleshooting steps already be sure all steps here were completed: If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

This includes ensuring you have enough storage on your iPhone to send and receive. Check out the article here to view your current local storage: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Additionally, when you turned iMessage completely off did you test sending an MMS message before turning it back on? If not, we'd recommend testing. Also, be sure to check any current restrictions you may have enabled. Navigate to Settings > Screen Time to get started. The article here can help you check more in-depth: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Best!

Hi!

Thank you for responding. These were helpful suggestions, however, none of these fixed the issue. I even thought it was because I was running out of iPhone storage and iCloud storage, so I transferred ALL photos and videos from my phone to an external hard drive.

I tested all the troubleshooting steps that we both mentioned one more time and still couldn't send a photo. Then, I saw that there's an iOS 15.1 update. I was reading the details and couldn't find whether it would resolve the issue but I had a weird inkling and updated anyways. AND IT IS FIXED! I CAN SEND PHOTOS! :-)
