iOS 15.1 Calendar app is laggy and unreliable

When swiping between days, data often shows up as stale (events on the wrong day, or events at the "right" time but with wrong title).

Keeping the same day view open for up to 10 seconds seems to correct the issue (temporarily). This appears to be some kind of caching bug.

(This was *not* an issue in 15.0, 15.0.1 or 15.0.2. I have one MS Exchange calendar and three Google calendars.)

Same here.

And I am completely baffled by the quality of iOS 15.1 it’s barely usable in an business critical environment.

  • so calendar is completely broken (lagging, ghosting, full day events disappearing etc, )
  • but I also found that the calendar widgets are effected as well (not loading only showing place holder things).

worst part is got a call from apple care support that was zero use to me and instead of pulling a log file / report they told me I have to “factory reset completely restore the device, that’ll fix it”.

i did it (stupid enough) and nothing changed!

I have the same problem and it is occurring on both my iPhone and iPad calendars, occurring only after installation of 15.1. Oddly, Apple support recommended I do a full restore on BOTH devices not seeing that the likelihood is the software itself not a faulty installation when it is happening on both devices.

I use both devices for work and the calendar is a central function of that work. It is barely usable now.

Additionally, it appears to carry calendar information from one day over to display on another day when swiping from one day to another. This makes it even more of a critical issue for me as the dates/times of appointments not only don't display, but often display incorrectly. It is a blocker and I cannot rely on my iphone calendar.

I had apple support on the phone for 2hrs yesterday trying many things - still no good. They even got me to remove work profiles off phone, remove calendar app etc etc - all no good. Clearly something hasn’t been tested properly in this upgrade which I have experienced with apple previously. They went away to find a solution.

not as good as they make out.

So, am engaging to add another voice to get Apple’s attention. I called support three times, did the resets on a pad and a phone. Did a movie to upload to show techs then was asked to delete all calendars and start again to give more info to technicians. I stopped there. I had my iPad warranty replaced and the new one acted the same. It’s clearly a programming issue and for the first time I resented the request to kill two more hours to show that I would be at the same place. At least admit it’s a problem and you are working on it!

I tried Apple support--they said the only options as of now are removing the Exchange calendar (might as well not use the calendar at all then) or downgrading to iOS14. And then they disconnected the chat.

Argh, I thought that's what beta testing was for. They did not specify an ETA for a fix.

Just venting, but I thought the benefit of using Apple products is that they control the hardware and software, so it should just work. Is this why we spend $1000 on a phone?
