macOS Monterey finder spring back horizontal scrolling

I have Monterey installed. Now there is a funny Finder behaviour where when scrolling horizontally in column view it will spring back. I attached a GIF.

Anyone else having this issue? How did you fix it?

Also, I noticed that the Back keyboard shortcut in Safari ⌘[ is not working only on Apple Communities. Is that happening with anyone else?

I have been noticing a load of little behaviours like this.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

I have been running 12.2 since yesterday morning and the horizontal scrolling continues to behave normally as expected.

I just created 10 subdirectories so I had a reasonable depth of folders/files to test. The scrolling behavior is correct and as expected.

Shut my system completely down, restarted it and everything continue to works correctly.

Same exact issue.

It happens both on MBP2017 and MBP2021 m1max

I've tried to call the support but funny enough the issue is not always there it just happens from time to time and when called the assistance of course I haven't been able to show them.

hopefully a bug fix soon?

By the way I've also tried to create a new user...just in case.. and no luck, same problem!

So I'm not alone! On a MacBook Pro 2019, 13", Intel. Affected since Monterey. Currently running 12.2.1. Both the spring back and the scrolling on Finder that stops scrolling (though I thought it was due to the trackpad, which hasn't been as reliable recently).

I still love Monterey. Those are frustrating issues, but I like the new features too. Hope these bugs can be fixed in the next update.

Updating to 12.2.1 and trashing .plist had no effect on either the '17 iMP or '19 MBP.

I have also noticed that when i attempt to quick view or execute a shortcut in one Finder window, the action will sometimes be applied to another Finder window, and not the window under focus.

15 minutes went by before i noticed I had a 40gb folder being duplicated on my office network, because it was buried under other, more recently focused Finder windows. … shame! shame!!!

Ok, so after being on Monterey, I went back to Big Sur, what a pleasure, finder works as normal, spotlight works. Was forced to go back onto Monterey two weeks ago to have the voice isolation feature on the new FCP update as one of my clients keeps recording crap voice audio at events and I have to fix the audio. Anyway, finder still jumping around, but it seems to be not so bad on 12.4 compared to 12 or 12.1. And spotlight, when you cmd spacebar to quickly open an app, the app is listed like halfway down and am used to just click enter to open, because in Big Sur it comes up first. Another flippen bug
