I have Monterey installed. Now there is a funny Finder behaviour where when scrolling horizontally in column view it will spring back. I attached a GIF.
Anyone else having this issue? How did you fix it?
Also, I noticed that the Back keyboard shortcut in Safari ⌘[ is not working only on Apple Communities. Is that happening with anyone else?
I have been noticing a load of little behaviours like this.
Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
Yes, so far this morning it seems that the update has fixed this issue.
Has yesterday's MacOS Monterey update fixed this issue?
Agree. Scrolling without inertia does fix the issue but I had to turn it back on... it was taking forrrrrever to scroll.
I have the same problem on a 2019 MacBook Pro 16" that I just installed Monterey 12.0.1 and I just purchased a MacBook Pro 2021 M1 Max that came with Monterey 12.0 and the first thing I did was update it to 12.0.1 and I have the same issue. A bit annoying.

Hi there, I m having the same issue (the Finder horizontal scrolling), which started right after I installed Monterey. As a specification: I erased the volume/partition, then I reinstalled Catalina, then I upgraded with Monterey. Previously I was using the latest BigSur which it worked just fine. Also, today I realized that switching between various sound output, for example from Headphone to Mac Speakers and back does not work properly, basically I could not undo that action and after I restarted the machine it worked. However, simply restarting the machine will not fix the Finder horizontal scrolling, which it`s a bit annoying... . Hoping for a new Monterey 12.0.x to fix the bug. Cheers.
Ditto, brand new 2021 MacBook Pro 14 inch, worked great, did its update to Monterey and now seeing the exact same behavior (initially thought it was a mouse issue but it's consistent across input devices)
Same here, a brand new 2021 M1 MacBook Pro 16. This is not the only problem on a new machine with monterey. Seems like apple is starting to roll out buggy system and machines and no fix. E.G. I can not see my iCloud drive files too on a new machine. Thinking on installing big sur and than updating. Tried everything – no fix
What exactly is the problem with the iCloud Drive? Do you not see it in the Sidebar? Does it not show the contents? And, sorry if too obvious, but are you logged in to the same id as in other devices?
iCloud Drive is not showing my documents or other folders as well the desktop files are missing. iCloud Dirve is working because important infos from apps and accounts are syncing. But if I want to open e.g. a folder in user documents or desktop all files are not visible. Seems like icloud is using a wrong account. But it is the same as on my imac and mac pro as well as on my mac mini and ios devices. Only the new MacBookPro 16 is having this problem.
Of course :-). I double checked all accounts. Strange is that the information about the used icloud storage is correct compared to my ipad or imac or all other computers. I also disabled and enabled this section again and again and nothing helps
I have the same issue - finder window scrolling keeps jumping back and really annoying.
Also - with 2 finder windows open, trying to copy a document / file from one to the other does not work. The 2nd window - where document to be copied to stays live while copying from first window and when you go to paste the item, it says you cant paste the same item into itself . . . . what is going on APPLE???

Yeah still there for me too. Literally cannot believe this wouldn’t be the first thing Apple would look to fix.
Does anyone know if I go to the Genius Bar if they’ll be able to downgrade my OS to Big Sur?

Disabling "sort by" doesn't fix the problem.
Cannot believe Apple would leave something like this broken. Like everyone has said makes working on a Mac a complete nightmare.
Can only assume they don't know how to fix it themselves?
Has anyone updated to 12.2 yet? Wonder if this issue is fixed and what else they fixed / broke in this update. I can't check, updated Big Sur today to 11.6.3 and no issues thus far.
I see 9to5mac says 12.2 still missing universal control. Why show it at WWDC and then never implement it. I don't have a iMac or iPad, so not a big issue for me.
Not a longterm test, obviously, but right now the issue seems to be RESOLVED!!!
What...wait...as I write this I see my finder jump back to the far right. AAAARRRGHHH. How can they even release something as buggy as that?!
