Why is my Magic Mouse not scrolling up or down?
I've just updated to Monterey on my MacBook Air and my Magic Mouse won't scroll up and down or zoom in or out. How do I fix that?

Same issue as others. I was tired of having to turn the mouse off and back on every time I came back to my Mac. Removing the Magic Mouse from Bluetooth preferences completely resolved the issue for me. I was a little hesitant for fear of not being able to re-pair but it was smart enough to realize I had a Magic Mouse nearby.
Upon reconnecting, the Mouse was immediately scrolling and I had not previously turned it off and back on to get it to scroll again after being asleep. I put the Mac to sleep, woke it back up, and still connecting.

Turning off manually my mac mini did not work for me. Still cannot use the magic mouse full functions.

Mine does the same thing. If I turn off Bluetooth then back on it works but only for awhile. I can shut my MacBook and then later open it and the mouse still works. It’s only after many hours that it goes back to not working right. As smart as Apple thinks they are you would think that they could fix something this simple.
I too spent an hour or so with tech support. Solution was to take in the old Magic Mouse and trade it in for a new one, which I did. Same problem with the newer mouse. Seems like Apple is turning their backs on this issue.
I've had this problem since day one of buying the extremely expensive Magic Mouse. The quickest band-aid fix is to click system icon, then bluetooth, then toggle it off then back on. HOWEVER! You have to do it every time after you've closed your MacBook Pro for awhile...come on Apple! You make computers, this can't be that hard to fix! (so much for it being "magic")
Same issue here on my iMac 5K 2019 ... and a Magic Mouse ... please no references to "What to do when keyboard/mouse/etc. are not working as they should" ... Tried it all ... no effect.

So glad I'm not the only person in the universe who's having this issue... Intermittently ( but regularly ) scrolling and swiping just stop working with my mouse in Monterey. Turning the mouse off then back on fixes it until it happens again. Very odd...
I'm having this issue with my 2021 MacBook Air M1 with the Magic Mouse and the built in trackpad. The quick fix is reconnect the Magic Mouse and it works. With the trackpad, I just did the same thing and connect the Magic Mouse and disconnect. There is a weird issue with gestures with macOS Monterey. I'm sure they will have a bug fix update soon. . .
I tried turning the bluetooth off and back on after reading some of the responses here, and voila! It worked. Started scrolling immediately. I assume I will need to keep doing this periodically until this known problem is fixed permanently. Glad I checked--I was getting ready to drive to an Apple Store to have it checked out. Saved me a trip!
I have two devices and turn one off and the other on and I'm back in business. I find it completely "un-apple" to have to do this.
I just had this issue after updating a 2019 MBP to macOS 12.0.1.
macOS 12 changed the way you reset Bluetooth, and I can no longer find the option when Opt+Shift clicking the Bluetooth icon.
macOS 12 Fix: reset SMC and PRAM. Instructions below.
To reset SMC on MacBook Pro, MacBook or MacBook Air:
a. Shut the Mac down and unplug the power cable.
b. Wait for a minimum of 15 seconds and then plug the power cable back in.
c. Hold Left Shift, Option, Control and Power button simultaneously for a minimum of 10 seconds. Release all the keys and power the Mac up as usual. You will notice a boot in speed instantly.
To reset SMC on iMac, Mac Mini, Xserve or Mac Pro:
a. Power the Mac down and unplug the power cord.
b. Wait for a minimum of 15 seconds and plug the power cord in.
c. Wait for at least 5 seconds then power the Mac up as you would do regularly.
Resetting the SMC will not lose any data so do not be scared to try it.
To reset the PRAM/NVRAM (on any Mac):
a. Shut the Mac down and wait for a few seconds.
b. Power it on and immediately press Command, P, R and Option keys on the keyboard simultaneously.
c. Only release the keys when you hear the beep indicating the machine is restarting.

I was on the phone with Apple Support on this issue for 1-1/2 hours. Nothing we tried seemed to have any impact. Once the mac goes to sleep, under Monterey, the only fix appears to be a restart of the computer. That fixes the issue until the next sleep session. However, and here is a fun tip for the rest of you...after that 1-1/2 hours, tech support is sending me a brand new Magic Mouse 2 hoping that a newer unit might work better. If you were me, I'd start calling Apple and requesting a new Magic Mouse 2. Nothing like free stuff to help balm the disappointment of poor OS design. Interestingly, I also notice that with Monterey installed, I have to authorize my computer every single time I log in to this forum (even if it several times a day). Makes you wonder how much testing they do before they shove another operating system out the door.
