trackpad needs double tap on M1 Macbook Air with Monterey

Since upgrading to Monterey on my M1 Macbook Air yesterday, I have noticed that I often need to double tap the trackpad for the gesture to be accepted whereas previous a single tap would be sufficient. It seems like it doesn't recognize the first tap. I have tried adjusting the touch required but that does not make a difference. This is definitely a Monterey related effect as this ** not happen with Big Sur prior to the upgrade.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

I will continue disabling things and trying to see if I can isolate it or at least make it consistent.

Uninstalling cleanmymac and reinstalling macos didn't help to me, but it seems os started work smoother now. Better than nothing

I will try this, but I don't believe CleanMyMac X is the culprit here.

Maybe not, but if you put garbage like that in your mac it is no wonder it starts to smell…

I had 1Password but then uninstalled it but still got this issue, so not related.

I'm about to downgrade to Big Sur just because of this issue

Well I said I'm seeing the sam problem, but I just checked and the AirPlay setting was checked again, somehow. So still testing.

Turning off Airplay receiver didn't fix the problem for me. Good try though.
