Hi,

the problem is your GPU (Intel HD4000).

Security Update 2021-007 Catalina broke the Intel Graphics driver.

Look into 'Console.app' for CrashReports from your application.

There you should find the following section:

[...]
Graphics kernel error: 0xfffffffb

I opened a ticket on Apple Support - feel free to do so as well ;-)

I just installed the Security Update (which includes firmware updates as well) and then installed Google Earth Pro. It seems to work fine. I am wondering if there is a way to completely uninstall (remove) Google Earth Pro from your Mac and then reinstall it from scratch (download the installer, etc.) and test again?

You can also run Etrecheck, with option turned on to allow full access, paste the output in a response here using the Additional Text button below. It will provide a list of installed software, but it is an anonymous report, no identifying info about you or your location. From the report, someone reading these posts may see something that has caused a conflict.

Specifically, do you have any security software, anti-virus, system protection, VPN, network monitoring, "cleaner" apps, or any "system enhancements" like that installed? These sorts of things can trigger a conflict sometimes when Apple changes its security configuration, which this update certainly has done.

I don't see anything obvious that is problematic in what you have installed -- but someone with more experience than I have might spot something.

Your hard drive is a mechanical hard drive that seems to be working poorly, and your battery is failing. However I don't see why those would cause what you have experienced. I also don't think Boom 3D audio enhancer should be interacting with Google Earth Pro so I don't think that is the issue.

Hi Denz,

I called the local (german) support hotline. Chat is also possible. See 'getsupport.apple.com'

I have my doubts if there will be still another Security Update for Catalina if it is not absolutely necessary. Perhaps a kind of "Device Update" may be possible as well - I'm no Apple insider ;-)

But in my mind and as I understand the root of the problem it's not the applications fault
