AirPlay volume issue

This has been an issue for me for a number of months.

I’m using iOS 15.5 and still not fixed.

I’m airplaying to various boxes: Naim, Airport Express and a HomePod mini.

My work around is to come out of the airplay screen and to slide open Control Panel from the home screen. I use the volume slider here to adjust volume. This works but is a very unacceptable and clumsy solution.

PLEASE FIX THIS APPLE!

IOS 15.5 fixed it ;-)

So I had the same issues using airplay with Sonos. Since iOS 16 everything is working normally for me! 🤔

This is pretty irritating, and a regression that has not been fixed in several iOS updates.

Volume control is a problem with Airplay from iPhone to Sonos. But also from iPhone to Homepod Mini ... two Apple products that should Just Work™ together. It's embarassing / worrying how long this bug has been allowed to persist. Being able to adjust the volume of speakers is a pretty core feature to break and then leave messed up.

IOS 15.5 RC is only available for developers at the moment.

And yes, 15.5 will fix it.

Kindly check for the following possible reasons as well which might be creating problem.

When music is playing & lock screen control is enabled, then the volume buttons still control Sonos even if the app isn't open. The controls, however, would not be enabled if:

• Home Screen is open and being viewed
• Music or video is being played by another app on the smartphone.
• Bluetooth audio device connected
• There is a screen reader installed.
• The headphones are plugged in.

Same problem for me, when using Airplay to a sonos one.

When trying to change the volume with lockscreen touch controls it just goes to zero.

After 2 klicks on a volume button it works until the screen turns off again

had the problem on my iPhone XR and now on my iPhone 13.

Same problem with IOS 15.3 while Airplay to a HomePod Mini.

Volume Slider on Lockscreen didn't work correctly.

Without Airplay, also paying the music on the iPhone itself, it works fine.

Same problem here, it drives me crazy. Since I installed ios 15. My OG HomePod, my Ikea Symfonisk(Sonos) and my Sonos Roam have the same Problem. Even when they are not grouped up.

Same here … but only with 3rd party airplay speakers (Sonos, Denon) and only when screen is locked. HomePods work fine. All devices running iOS 15.4.1.

I am having this issue with all my airplay devices. Spoke with Apple support and they say that they are aware of the problem. Don't hold yr breath!

I chatted with apple support by also linking to this page that testifies to the problem and on Monday they call me to send the log files to apple engineering so that they can solve the problems with Airplay 💪
