iOS 15.1/ music not working

I have a 2018 Ford Escape, and having similar problem. Music was playing great from my iPhone through a USB cord and now it's all over the place. It's both annoying and dangerous. Someone could have an accident trying to make the silly thing work.

Apple, please fix it.

Same! I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze & after recently updating my iPhone 8 my car will no longer recognize my phone when it’s connected via USB. My phone will charge but it won’t play music. I’ve been able to play music via my USB for at least 2+ years & I’ve never had a problem until this last update.

I have a 2011 Buick Regal and my aux cord will not connect my music apps either. I tried another Iphone that we have not done the the 15.1 update on and it works just fine. This is definitely a software issue. Apple support suggesting restarting the car and phone does not help. Its their software.

Same. As soon as I updated to 15.1 I was no longer able to connect to my music from my Aux cord. It charges my iPhone 12 but won’t play music. I’ve tried a different phone and my cars AUX works fine. How annoying

This is not a helpful solution. I have a 2014 Chevy Equinox and never had this issue until the 15.1 update. Even the software on a Trac Phone from Walmart is smart enough to recognize and play through the USB. What is going on with Apple? You just gonna try to gaslight all of us into thinking our cars audio went out after the upgrade instead of admitting the issue and providing a patch? This is definitely not up to Apple standards.

Yes I totally agree. I reached out to Apple support and explained the situation. I have forwarded this forum to them to show them it’s a software issue and not my phone or car. I’m supposed to hear back from a “senior advisor.” I will post here if I hear back and what comes from it.

I called apple 5 times and the conclusion they came to was “my cars radio is obsolete” they really weren’t helpful, mind you I have a 2011 chevy equinox lt, but they released ios 15.1.1 so I will update and see if it works. But it’s very annoying that it isn’t working

I am experiencing this same issue. Contacted Apple support, updated to 15.1.1 and still not working. 2015 Chevy Cruze with basic stereo. Connected with USB cable, will charge but not play audio through stereo.

Same thing happened to me. I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze. I updated to iOS 15.1.1 and it still doesn’t work. It is so frustrating because my brother and friends phone plays in my car bc they don’t have the update. I didn’t even know my phone was gonna update. Apple NEEDS to address this problem and fix it ASAP. You would think w so many complaints they would have fixed it by now, but they want to keep making it seem like it’s OUR fault and our cars are the problem.

I have a 2014 chevy Cruze LT with a basic radio and my music/audio stopped working on my iPhone 12 (via usb connection) when I did the 15.1 update. I tried another iPhone 12 with the 15.1 update and that also would not work. I have replaced cords, tried the aux, restored settings… and nothing works. The interesting part is that I have a friend with a 2015 chevy that has the upgraded stereo and it will connect, but ONLY if I completely restart my phone right before I connect via usb. Bluetooth still works and charging works, but this is getting old. Why is apple not fixing this very clear software issue?! The newest update 15.1.1 also has done nothing to help. COME ON APPLE!

2014 Chevy Cruze, same issue.

even with your dongle & aux my phone plays for about 1 min then says it’s not supported to have to restart my phone n plug back in for another minute of play time.

please fix soon!

After talking with an apple employee over the phone, I got the vibe that this is Apple’s way to try and make us upgrade our phone. All of the newer models got a 15.1.1 update to fix this issue while the older XR version was left without an update.

I have a Buick Regal 2011 and a Chevy Cruze 2016, same problem. Ran the new update, very next day, my AUX jack would not connect to my phone in either car. This may or may not help, but it work for me. I took my Bluetooth speaker box to play my tunes while I was driving. Connected my phone to the speaker through Bluetooth and than plugged my lighting cable to charge my phone. By some miracle, the stereo picked up the phone and connected the audio and my playlists. Like I said, this may or may not work, but it's worth a try. :)

Thanks for the input. I actually broke down and started using bluetooth speaker in the car last week to listen to my audio books during the work

commute. Unfortunately, I haven’t experienced the same miracle. I’m so disgusted with Apple. This is just ridiculous!

Having the same issue in my 2016 Chevy Cruze. Can play music in my fiancés VW Passat and he can play music in my car without the update. Tried different cables, connecting to blue tooth etc etc

Please fix this Apple!!
