App Store link to macOS Big Sur is broken

Dear Apple,

I recently had a long and detailed interaction with a very effective advisor regarding this issue, and we determined that, in fact, the link in the App Store to download and install macOS Big Sur isn't working. A click on "GET" results in a Software Update search for the package, and an error message that says, "Update not found - The requested version of macOS is not available."

How's the effort coming along to make it available?

Thanks-

SC

Sorry but that is incorrect. The main reason one would get a "not available" message is if the Mac was not Big Sur compatible.

What part of what I shared is incorrect? If my MacPro 2013 was incompatible with Big Sur, why would I be redirected to this?

I've been upgrading Macs since 1987. I'm not remotely unfamiliar with the process. When I try to download the Big Sur update, I get this;

Firstly the ASC Forum as only user to user and Apple Itself is not here.

Have seen another Senior Contributor verify the Link may present incorrectly but if one actually attempts the link in the Apple Apps Store for Big Sur - it will actually commence the Big Sur 11.6.1 download.

That failing this method may work if already running Catalina and no lower macOS.

For good results - use an Ethernet Cable to Router

Open Terminal and copy and paste this command without quotation marks " softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.6.1 ".

If it finds to Big Sur - it will download the Full Version and place a new Application in the applications folder called Install Big Sur.

The application will not launch until the use runs the Application.

In context and the " softwareupdate " part of the command is missing from your picture above. No wonder it did not work

A. To Dialabrain

I restarted in Safe Mode.... and downloaded the "installer pkg"... slow but Successful !

Now how do I proceed from here (to be sure)

B. To Barney-15E

I tried it but ... not the anticipated result... redirected to Monterey instead.

The link to a .pkg worked, see above last post of Dialabrain.

Thx very much both for the speedy help.
