Since updating to Monterey 12.0.1 last week, my trackpad (2021 Air M1) has started failing to register tap-to-clicks. Not every time, but frequently enough that it's obnoxious and seriously disruptive to workflow. Does not resolve with resetting trackpad settings or restart. Apparently this was happening in the beta version but Apple failed to address it in this rollout? Needs a fix asap!

Did you try setting the "Click" slider towards the "Light" side?
I'm experiencing this exact same issue. Many others are experiencing it as well. It is a software bug that Apple has refused to fix.
I'm having problems with my trackpad as well since upgrading. I have a Macbook Pro 2021. I actually have my click set to firm but I get random unexpected clicks. I keep trying difference settings but it's still happening.
