App removed from iPad Pro but still shown and can’t be re-installed

Following ‘a solution’ from Apple Community (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253340687), related to fast forward video with magic keyboard no longer working, I’ve removed an app (Disney+) from my iPad Pro, so I could reinstall it and retry.

Unfortunately since, the app is still shown as already downloaded (from App Store) and therefore, can’t be installed again. After rebooting the iPad, the app is indeed shown, but as an unknown app (see 1st picture below). It doesn’t matter if I ‘remove’ it (everything looks normal ‘remove app’ -> ‘yes’ and then app disappears) but yet, still shown as already installed from the App Store (2nd picture).

FYI: from Settings -> General -> iPad Storage: Disney+ is NOT shown (removing the app from there was another solution from Apple Community - so this is definitely not a solution for me, this before and after rebooting the iPad)

If someone can help, I would really appreciate it!!!

Resetting my iPad from factory setting (erase all content and settings) is not an option for me :(

Hi sylvaine42,

Thanks for taking the time to post in the Apple Support Communities. It appears that you're having trouble downloading the Disney+ app. Let's see how we can help. If you haven't done so already, Restart your iPad. This step may seem fairly simple, but it can resolve some unexpected behavior. Also make sure you're running the latest version of iPadOS: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and that the date and time is set up correctly in Settings > General > Date & Time. If you have any VPN or security software, remove them and test. You can also try signing out of Settings > [name] > Media & Purchases and then signing back in.

Reply to this message if you need more help.

Cheers.

Hi Mr Vegas,

Thanks for replying, really appreciate it!!!

Unfortunately, I’ve tried everything you suggested before my post, except for checking the time zone (which I just did) as was already shown correctly on top of the screen.

In the meantime, I’ve found another (very old - 2017) solution that could work: reinstall iOS version from MacBook, after (preferably) performing a backup of the iPad in case something goes really wrong…

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8196173

Ok, the issue was not exactly mine but worth trying.

I was just unable to give it a try so far, since my MacBook Pro is too old and therefore can only connect to iPad’s though USB ports.

Pity Apple doesn’t sell cables that connects old MacBook’s to the newest iPad’s… awaiting the weekend to go to a store that sell such cables so I can give it a try.

Fingers crossed!

Worst case scenario: save whatever has been stored within the past year (at least, I should be able to do that on the MacBook once I’ve got the cable), reinstall iPad from scratch and then struggled getting all my work apps working again…

I’ll post the outcome here.

Pease, wish me luck (= not a full restore of the iPad).
