iPhone 13 battery drain - I think there is a problem for Apple to solve

Just bought a new 13 two days ago. Shocked by how quickly the battery drains - I thought longer battery life was one of the selling points of this new model. I am comparing it with a 2.5 year old Xr, which is the phone I had used since 2019.

I don't have background app refresh turned on; I don't have emails pushed to me; I have the same display brightness settings as my previous phone. So there is nothing 'new' I am doing that could be causing such rapid battery usage.

Moreover, I switch my phone off completely when I go to bed at night....so why should there be significant battery loss displaying when I switch back on in the morning?!?

How long before Apple admits that there is a problem? I can see I am not alone in experiencing poor battery life on this model.

I would love to know your experiences. Do you have the same problem with your iPhone 13?

Firstly you should not turn the phone off at night, it should be on charge all night every night.

Secondly It will take a few days to complete all its housekeeping tasks.

However if it loses more than 2 or 3% charge while powered off for 8 hours then the battery is probably faulty - take it back.

Thanks LD150 for your reply. Useful - but please could you explain why it should be charged "...all night every night"?

I have owned several iPhones over the last 9 years and have always switched off when I go to bed, unless the phone needed charging. I have never been advised by tech support, nor read anywhere in all those years, that I must charge as you suggest.

After nearly 2.5 years of use, my old iPhone Xr still has a maximum battery capacity of 89% - so I don't think my bedtime switching off routine has done that battery any harm. I tend to charge phones when they need charging.
