homekit location

I have two homes 600 km apart both with an AppleTV as a hub. It has been working rather smoothly but recently started to give me location problems. My location is defined by my iPhone and my wife's.

When we both leave one of the houses the HSV cameras automatically switch to recording mode in that home.

For the last two days, I've been receiving hundreds of notifications telling me my cameras and changed state because someone had arrived or left home, which is not correct as we are both 600 km away and so defined in our location settings.

Now, if I open the Home.app on any of my devices or Macs, I default to the home where we are not, with the location services arrow (hollow) pointed there. Obviously, Homekit seems to be stuck in the wrong location.

I did try to reset my location services on my iPhone to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello François,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have been getting notifications that someone has left or arrived at your home when that's not the case.

First, make sure that your security system is compatible using iOS - Home accessories. It may also help to remove and then add your security system using the guidance from Set up security cameras in Home on iPhone.

If continued after those steps, check your user manual and reach out to the manufacturer for further suggestions.

Have a great day!

The problem does not lie with my equipment that is absolutely compatible with Homekit and works without problem. It lies only with Locations services which do not put me at the right place. My location is correctly displayed on the map, but when I open Home.app, it shows me in my other location. It used to switch automatically precisely based on your location, as it should do according to Apple. As a way of consequence, all automations and camera settings which rely on my position (home or away from home) fail.

How do we make Homekit stop being stuck at the wrong location, that is the question that needs an answer.
