iMessage "Tap to Download" Issue

Here’s an update 3/28/22. Maybe this could help some people… My iMessages are not indexing and that seems to be the issue here on my iPad.

Having the same issue. There are pictures I’m afraid are lost forever now. Would Apple Support please find a resolution???

I have the same problem. Called apple support, but they told me to reset the iphone. Wtf ? Is this how they solve a problem ? I told them that is a software bug…

I’ve been having the same exact issue: IPhone 12 Pro, up to date iOS, and 1.5TB of free iCloud storage. Very discouraging

I'm having this issue also and wish I could see how to turn off messages in iCloud. I don't see that option on either my desktop (pc) or iPhone.

SO frustrating (and my iPhone was recently reset AND plenty of storage)!

I have the same issue with 521 GB left (2 TB option) and it doesn’t help. Hopefully Apple will resolve the issue with a new update!

Thank you SO much gganne - this totally worked! This problem was driving me nuts for a long time.

Settings -> iCloud -> Turn Messages on/off. Fixed!

I tried following these instruction on IPhone 13 and this did not help. Same problem still exists.
