WatchOS 8.3 Update Causing 3rd Party Wireless Charger to Drain Battery

Is anyone else experiencing erratic behavior on their Series 7 Watch after the 8.3 update with a 3rd party wireless charger (Belkin)? Right after the update my watch started flashing between screens (charging screen, unlock pin pad, watch face) and eventually drained the battery to 10%. Once I put it on the charger that came with the watch it charged fine, problems went away. I don't want my charger to become obsolete because of an update.

Exactly the same situation comes with my Prestigio Revolt A8 combo charging device. While iPhone would get an excellent load with it, Apple Watch stops the charging after app. 5 minutes. The vendor already noticed this issue, calling update to watchOS 8.3 as its main reason: https://prestigio.com/news/revolt-apple-watch-os-8-3

And what make and how much was it? And have you talked to Amazon support. Apple will only recognize it if they are in the MFI program. As I said this is not a first for things like this and there were many thousands of Lightning cables that failed to work after an older update. Without knowing the company It is hard to guess if it is part of the program. Lots of $5 Lightning cables went to junk drawers or recycle. Caveat Emptor.

I'm not taking it personally. No, I don't think a huge amount of customers don't know this and know anything about mFi. And bringing power properly to portable electronics is much more than being a stupid cable. What I do think a lot of people do believe it there is such thing as a free lunch. They look only for Lightning cable, and Apple Watch puck cable and see some from Belkin, Mophie, Apple, Griffin, and others and see they run from $20 to $125 and then go on Amazon and find one for $4 and say I'll get that one. They don't do any research, they don't look at the box, they don't look at what is included in the box. Then when something goes wrong they blame anyone else besides themselves. And yes you should take personal responsibility for any power adapter that you buy. For 20W USB-C power adapters I like the Anker Nano, the Mophie, the Satechi and the Apple one in that order. I did research them. We have the internet, it isn't that hard to do.

Again, here are your options:

You can contact the company that makes your stand, tell them what has happened and see if they have any suggestions.

If your look on the box and find that it is one that has mFi certification then contact them and tell them what happened. If that is the case you should also contact Apple Support so that they can be made aware of the situation.

Why do I ask for the maker and the price? One, to check to see if they are certified mFi and two to see if what you bought was a complete ripoff. People who complained about Lightning cables no longer working sometimes paid $2 for 5 cables and then asked how were they to know they weren't mFi. Well, the extremely low price would be a tipoff.

You can keep complaining but like I told the other poster you have limited options. I believe you said you bought yours from Amazon, that gives you an additional option. You keep saying your holiday is ruined and you can't use your watch but again what happened to the cable that came with your Apple Watch? That and a power adapter will let you charge your watch all through the holidays. So what happened to it?

The cable that comes with the Apple Watch 7 does have a USB-C puck/cable so that answers that question.

The device in this case talks to the puck/cable.

So how much did your device cost? You never said.

If you want Apple to switch it back you need to click on the Get Support link at the top right of this page and tell Apple. If your device is using counterfeit chips/stolen codes they will likely tell you that will not happen.. Keep in mind that the companies that do sell mFi products no doubt applaud Apple doing this and would not be pleased with Apple if they "fix" it back.

If you truly displeased with this then vote with your wallet and go a different route.

Yes, I am focusing on Apple chargers and one of the 200 companies that belong to the MFI program. All of the others can only make theirs work through stolen codes. Really isn't fair to the 200 honest companies that are in the MFI program. Encourage the company you like to use to join that program and the problem goes away for you.
