Apple Watch remote app,e won’t connect to apple tv

The apple TV remote app on my apple watch was paired and functional before the last Watch OS update. Now it is unpaired and I can no longer pair it with Apple TV. It doesn't appear under remote apps and devices on the TV. I have apple TV 4 and the software is up-to-date. They are both connected to the same wifi network. I have restarted both devices. My iphone is still connected to the remote app.

Hello Katt1017,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to use your Apple Watch as a remote control for your Apple TV. We'll be happy to help.

Just to be sure, let's follow each of the following steps and see if that helps resolve the issue you're experiencing:

  1. Please ensure that your Apple Watch is updated to watchOS 8.3 and that the Apple TV is updated to tvOS 15.2.
  2. Then, let's verify that these steps are followed correctly: Control Apple TV with Apple Watch
  3. If that doesn't help, please ensure that both the Apple TV and the Apple Watch are connected to the same Wi-Fi network for 2.4 GHz. If you have an Apple Watch 6th gen or later model, it does support 5GHz. If this is the case, please ensure that the Apple TV is also connected to 5GHz.
  4. Restart your iOS device, Apple Watch and Apple TV. For the Apple TV, you can disconnect it from the power outlet and then reconnect.
  5. Restart the Wi-Fi routers and modem.
  6. Forget the Wi-Fi network on your iOS device, Apple Watch and Apple TV, then reconnect it.
  7.  Remove all iOS devices in Apple TV Settings > Remotes and Devices > Remote App and Devices, power off and on the Apple TV and attempt to connect again.

Please let us know if these steps help.

Best regards.
