When I set up my 2019 iMac for reason the home 'My Mac' folder was assigned to my Dropbox directory (/Users/username/Dropbox/My Mac (iMac). I'd now like to change this to the /Users/username directory but am unsure how to do this without causing any major issues along the way.
Any advice appreciated

This sounds like it is your User Account/Home folder...if indeed this is what you log into(?) you will see it in under the in the upper left dropdown.
Make changes to your third party app—Dropbox If in doubt refer to the developers website; Support/Help/FAQ/known issues/compatibility...

Not sure what is 'My Mac' folder...? If this is a folder you created, simply move it to where you want it.

All sorted. Automatic backup for those folders was enabled in Dropbox
