AirPods Max Announcement notifications pause music

I have announce notifications turned on for my AirPods Max but why does it s pause my music when I get a notification? For example my AirPods Pro's will still have the music playing in the background while Siri reads out the notification and if I want to reply and so on.

My settings are fine, they are turned on for announce notifications to be received. The settings are the exact same with the AirPods Pro and my music does not pause while Siri reads my notifications.

WHY DOES IT PAUSE ON AIRPODS MAX? A minor bug maybe?

We see your AirPods Max fully pause your music when Siri announces a notification while your AirPods Pro lower the volume, but keep playing music.

We'd recommend you take a moment to reset your AirPods Max and after resetting, then pairing them confirm your Announce Notifications settings mirror those of your AirPods Pro again.
