Apple CarPlay doesn’t respond to steering wheel controls with Ford Sync

Hello, same as this fella : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252839663

When using Apple CarPlay on my Ford Fiesta 2021 MY (Europe/MK8), which embeds Ford Sync 3 Light/2.5, when I listen to a song with Apple Music App, I can change the song or pause it using steering wheel controls or autoradio buttons, but after 2 min or so when using Waze, the buttons do not respond anymore, and I have to turn off/turn on the autoradio (it cuts the music) to get it working again.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro, with all the updates, from the car to the phone.

Very annoying and potentially dangerous since it is very distracting to battle with that when you’re driving. Please make a fix/troubleshoot it.

Yes, my region/country (France) do supports CarPlay.

The issues occurs with Apple Plans too. I’m even wondering if it happens without any GPS app…Maybe the Apple Music App is the issue, which means I’ll have to cancel my subscription and use Deezer or Spotify…

Seriously, you realize your answer is like, the most generic you could have provided.

Hello matthieu193,

We understand that you're having trouble with CarPlay in your Ford Fiesta. Are you in a country which supports CarPlay? Here's where to check:

iOS and iPadOS - Feature Availability

Additionally, we'd also recommend these steps:

If you need help with CarPlay

If this issue only happens after using Waze, we'd also recommend checking for app updates as well.

Thanks!

Understood matthieu193,

It will be important to test this behavior with multiple apps as well as Apple Music as a standalone, this way we can determine the scope and what variables may be at play. If this issue only occurs with Apple Music with no other app involved, then we'd recommend that you Contact Apple Support for assistance. Additionally, ensure that the deck of your car is updated with any of the latest firmware to ensure its compatible with the new iOS versions. For that, you may need to contact your car manufacturer or dealership.
