Touch Bar in spaces view, the Control Strip expansion fails

I have the m1 macbook pro 13 inch. Running macOS Monterey, ver 12.1.

I had my touch bar to show Spaces, with the control strip. When I expanded the control strip, it vanished and I was not able to do anything - I could not use the Expanded Control Strip, or bring it back to the smaller control strip.

It sounds like you have a concern with the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro.

You've already completed some great troubleshooting steps. Also try resetting the SMC using these steps: How to reset the SMC of your Mac. You could also try running Apple Diagnostics on your Mac. Thanks for following up. Were there any issues found after running the diagnostics?

In your original post you mentioned trying the steps in the discussion post you linked. Just to confirm, when you attempted creating a test user account using those steps, Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac, did the issue persist in that test user account?
