ejecting external drive

2020 MacBook Air with an external R/RW drive and cannot get response from pressing the ejection button. Also, I cannot see any indication that the computer recognizes this piece of hardware. I have, however used it to transfer music from a CD to the computer.

What make and model of optical drive is it?

Try the following:

1 - drag the disk image on the Desktop to the Trash bin.

2 - in Terminal enter the following command followed by the Return key:

drutil tray eject

3 - reboot the MBA and hold down the trackpad button until the disc is ejected.
