Iphone 11 pro battery percentages jumping around (iOS 15.2 - 15.2.1)

Hello guys!

This is my first thread, I'm just gonna share my problem with my iPhone 11 pro, mainly about its battery percentages jumping around, it been doing like that so much, I've been trying to contact apple support but they ask me to reinstall the whole iOS, and I already did it and it still doesn't work, today they told me to bring it to apple authorized service centre to diagnosed, to see if my battery needs to be replaced. i was wondering do i need to replace the battery just because my percentages jumping around? my battery health situation is at 93% i think its quite normal for 2yrs of use and it can still go for a bit longer no?

anyway they did the mobile inspector thing on my phone and they found nothing wrong, and they couldn't explain what is going on about my battery.

did any of you guys experience the same issues? and how did you guys resolve this? thankyou in advance

it really is bothering me, does it means I got a faulty devices? shouldn't i get a free replacement for this? because clearly its not my fault, because the battery itself still doing well, its just the percentages jumping around like this

Most likely there's some issue with the battery or possibly the onboard diagnostic electronics on the battery. There's a little board on the battery that does things like monitor the state of the battery and has a small amount of memory to store data like the reported battery health. If a battery is transferred to another iPhone, the battery health and all that other stuff logged on the diagnostics electronics will transfer with the battery. The photos you showed indicate odd behaviors, including the reported charge level increasing without being charged, and sudden drops in the reported charge level.

There have been some recommendations to "recalibrate" the battery (really update the onboard battery diagnostic monitor) even though Apple hasn't recommended it in years. It was something that Apple used to recommend be done at least once a month for some Apple battery powered devices (like notebook computers that mostly sit on a desk), where a device is powered only from the battery starting at 100% until it shuts down by itself. The idea was that it monitors the amount of energy that's being used, and when it hits the voltage at which it's designed to shut down, the power management system will have a better idea of how much full capacity the battery really has and will update the battery health. Also - battery health is only an estimate, and when it's way off that's when strange things can happen.

However, I'm pretty sure that just replacing the battery is going to solve your problem.

That's unusual. I've only seen battery charge level jumping like that with a severely degraded battery where it seemed that the power management system couldn't figure it out.

If it really bothers you, you should be able to request a battery replacement service for the normal out of warranty fee. Unless it's worn or a diagnostic uncovers a specific fault, I don't believe the warranty (which has expired if you've had it for two years) or AppleCare+ (if still active) would cover a replacement.

Hello,

These are the standard steps:

1) Have you tried a restart?  If not, do it now.

2) Go to Settings > Battery > BATTERY USAGE BY APP to see the apps that are consuming your battery.

3) Check “Battery Health” in the link: iPhone Battery and Performance

4) Charging tips: When to charge your iPhone or iPad

5) If all else fails, consider a battery replacement:

iPhone Battery & Power Repair

Good luck.

the battery drops to 87 for a long time and then suddenly it rises up to 100% and then things pretty much goes to normal and then suddenly its stuck at 67% and then drip down to 45% in sudden 🥺

It could be worse. I had a MacBook battery that was reporting negative capacity.

But at this point I guess it's pretty obvious your battery needs to be replaced. Good luck.
