My new iPhone 13 breaks up on calls when I’m on speaker… it happens when the case is on… not when the case is off… it is me breaking up to the other person . I have switched out case 3x … can’t find one that doesn’t cause this.

That can be a problem with the noise cancellation feature. There is a mic on the back of the phone near the camera; it must not be covered when you are on a call, either with your hand, a case not designed for the phone, or the flap of a folio case that has been folded back. You can also try turning off noise cancellation in Settings/Accessibility - Audio & Visual.

No I changed cases which has helped a bit. When I use my headphones it doesn’t cut out. I just try to not interrupt or talk over the other person and keep the background noise quiet. Seems to help a bit but definitely apple acted like they had never heard of it before. Verizon was helpful and said I could switch it to the 12 but I saw similar problems on these discussions with the 12 also.

I am having the same issue. My voice breaking up all the time.

I did a little test to understand when exactly does it happen. I made a call between 2 devices. I used one of the devices only for talking (my iPhone) and the other device only for listening (my pc + headset). Initially, I could hear everything clearly on the other end. Then, I tried to put music on my iPhone, and that is when, my voice started breaking up. No idea if it is software or hardware related, but the mic doesn't work properly while the speaker is screaming. It gets worse if you put the phone vertically on a desk. Probably because the microphone gets much more noise, as they are located near each other. And that is probably why for some people it helped a bit to remove their phone cases.

Yes has not got better wish it was that easy though but would not carry it around without my OtterBox case as may have a bigger problem if dropped.

Well, the case is the problem, not the phone. You can try using a lower listening volume in the hope it will prevent feedback from the speaker to the microphone, which is what is causing the call to break up.

When Wi-Fi Calling is of calls don't break up anymore it seems. So when on a Wi-Fi network try to change this setting. Maybe just turn Wi-Fi off could help as well.

Please when having the issue try this and let the people in this thread know if it resolves the issue or not.

iPhone 13 Pro here. Calls break up, but WhatsApp and Teams do fine though.

Weird behaviors. Apple definitely is sticking head in the sand for a big issue with customers.

As with previous issues they deny and ignore this and don' have a solution for it.

I have the same problem as well and have spent hours upon hours trying to get it fixed. It happens at home and while I’m out and with everyone I call. Multiple calls and visits to Apple and my cell phone carrier. I am now on a third new iPhone 13 and still experiencing the exact same issue which I never experienced with the XR. Removing the case doesn’t help, trying LTE instead of 5G doesn’t help, a new SIM card replacement didn’t help and switching to wifi calling didn’t help. We also tried a factory reset and didn’t back up the software and this didn’t help either. I am super disappointed with this phone and my recent experience with Apple. Everyone in the store including the manager seems to have no knowledge of this issue however the cell phone carrier confirmed that it is indeed an Apple manufacturer issue that they are aware of. I use my speaker phone 90% of the time and have had to cut down calling people. I’m basically being told that I am stuck with this phone until Apple comes up with a fix through a software update. I hope Apple monitors this discussion board.
