For the past several days my iphone stopped showing the badge when I get new email on the gmail app.
I’ve checked the settings, turned them off then turned them back on, deleted the app and put it back on the phone, and restarted the phone. Nothing works.
Please tell me how to fix this.

I think I figured out the magic path to correct the issue.
I currently have iOS 15.4
I currently have gmail version 6.0.220306 (came out 3 days ago)
I went in to the iphone and my ipad setting, turned off notifications, then turned back on notification.
I went into the gmail app in my iphone and ipad and updated the gmail app. then I went into each and went to settings > the account > notifications > switch to None then back to All new mail > backed out then to Notification Sound updated to Welcome for both devices > backed out and closed the app.
Ive sent 4 test emails to myself from a different email and I received the badge notification instantly on both devices!
from what I was reading on other sites the Gmail tone Classic (which my ipad defaulted to) is no longer working, so I think doing a quick reset of my notifications to off then back on and selecting a tone of anything but Classic (which only shows on my ipad and not on my iphone as an option), and it worked like a gem!
Same here. Not sure why.
And just like that out of the blue it seems to be working again. Somebody changed a 0 for a 1 somewhere 🤷🏼♂️

Just left it alone and it’s been working perfectly fine for the past several days. Now please just bring the Classic notification sound back.
Like others said out of the blue it randomly started to work again, my guess is the Hamsters are back at running on the wheels to make it work.
Nope, you have not figured out the magic path. You were just lucky (?) that your testing was during a period when it worked. Guys, I repeat: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I open the app and see that the emails are already loaded there, but the app simply fails to push the notification badge on the screen. It's clearly a bug in the app so I strongly suggest again that EVERYONE uses the feedback button from the app to notify the developers of the issue. This is what you need to do, not posting here all sorts of SF solutions which are not reflecting the reality and just adding more confusion into this.
15.4.1 has just been released, this may do something.
Yep! Everyone needs to report it from the app.
Also, I noticed some Galaxy owners posting the same issue. If that’s true, it HAS to be on Google’s side, and not an iOS issue.

Who are you talking to? This is an apple support page, not a Gmail one! Use the feedback button from the Gmail app!
