macOS Monterey 12.2 does not mount Sd Card on iMac 27" (Intel 2019)

my iMac is also a 2019 27inch intel running monterey 12.2. i tested your issue on my machine. when i plug an SD card into the SD slot on the back of my mac, the card won't mount. but if i plug the same card into my SABRENT Multi-Port iMac Hub the card mounts without issue. so as i never use my built in card reader, this is a non issue for me. but since it works for you on 12.2 but not 12.1, i'm going to say that it might be an issue between the hardware and monterey. you may want to Contact Apple for support and service.

12.3 fixes the issue for me on my 2019 27" iMac.

Without question, this has to be system related.

I can mount any card I want, using an external multi-card reader, in ANY USB port.

But, the ONLY way I can read an SD card on my new iMac, is to REBOOT with the card iNSERTED!

Level 1 and 2 tech was zero help...by the way. Wanted me to "use the warranty period for repair". Nope...my time is too valuable and already been wasted 100 fold on this issue.

All right. This will give you a better idea. I have 3 iMac. 2 running 12.3.1 and 1 running on high sierra. My digital camera memory card doesn’t get recognized by iMacs running Monterey but if I put a cheap memory card reader it works without a problem.

on the other iMac running high sierra, memory card works fine without any external memory card reader. I think the problem is with the monterey version

I just retested and with 12.2.1 the SD will not read in the slot. If I put in a hub (connected to USB port) it reads fine. I submitted issue to Apple.

Only way to get the card mounted is to insert it and do a restart!!

I have the same issue (iMac 5K, 2019, Monterey 12.2). I tried with several cards SDXC64 GB - the won't mount. The cold boot trick doesn't work for me.

Interestingly, I'd no problem to mount an older SDHC 32GB. I tried to mount a SDXC 64MB afterwards, and - suprise, surprise - it mounts.

Same issue with Mac Mini (late 2014). Working only if I cold start without SD in the slot.

I found the cards will always work in a separate reader. It is the built in card slot that can be an issue. Based on der001mac the Sandisk always works but not some others (not sure why if all formatted the same, fat32)

The only other possibility is that type of SD card has an impact with this OS version. My cards are all Sandisk. Do you have another brand of card you could try?

Same here, iMac retina 27" 2017.

SD internal slot working without problems until I updated to 12.2.1.

I contacted Apple support, waiting for an answer.

Downloading 12.3.1 right now...stay tuned!
