Why do embedded gif files play on iPad Pro (3rd gen) but not on iPad Air 2?

I have embedded gif files in a Word document created on a Win 10 PC. When I transfer the document to an iPad Pro (3rd gen) the animated gif files play. They also play on my iPhone 13. However when I transfer the same file to my iPad Air 2 the animations don't work!

Is there a setting that I am missing or is is it the newer technology?

I am replying to my own question... The problem was that the 2nd iPad needed to update the Word app! Everything works now.
