Kaycee ~ The long process of applying an iOS update can strain a weak, aging battery and be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back". To determine if that's the case with your iPhone 8, please answer the following questions that you've been asked twice before:

Does your iPhone 8 still have its original battery?

Your battery suggestion ignores the fact that the battery drain issue appeared with the installation of iOS 15.3. So prior to installation of 15.3 longer battery life, immediately after installation of 15.3 shorter battery life. It doesn't take too much deduction to identify the iOS 15.3 update as the cause.

It may well be that my old SE's battery was damaged by the upgrade (not that that is an acceptable thing) but my newer SE is also displaying greater battery usage.

It doesn't matter how much anyone tries to talk the issue away - 15.3 and 15.4 releases of iOS have resulted in greater power consumption and faster battery draining, no question.

15.3 definitely has battery draining issues. 12 Pro and get maybe half days battery life doing nothing.

Yes the original battery. Max capacity is 83%

btw I Installed a QR reader for a day to test App Store for another user thread and it used 6% of my battery while doing nothing!

Apps first, settings next, then individual usage style.

I did read it but I may not in future.

If you did all the tests please post your battery graph and the graph after the self-discharge test.

I bought a new IPhone 13 pro from an apple store and set the phone up where I was forced to install IOS 15.3…the first 2 days were fine then today I lost 50% battery life in around 4 hours.

Pretty ridiculous and apple need to sort this out!

So many of us have reported this through this forum / thread and others - it's surprising that there's been no response from Apple at all. At the very least it would be good to receive an acknowledgement, at best a [real, not "update OS, restart phone, track app usage"] solution. Has anyone heard anything about this issue from them that's made a real difference? If battery health is being affected, they should also replace batteries in affected devices.

I have an iPhone SE 2020, and since iOS 15 (I believe), the phone is dying when I hit 37%, I charge and it's at 12% I really hope this update fixes it because I don't know how this drain can get any worse. I went to Apple Store for diagnostics, and battery seemed totally healthy. Come on Apple, fix your product/software.
