UPS delivered an empty box

I ordered an iPhone about few days ago, but when UPS driver delivered my package, the box was empty. From the tracking information on UPS, it's clear that box wasn't empty when Apple gave the package to UPS.


I reported this incident to both Apple and UPS. Apple said they wouldn't give me refund or replacement. They said they would issue refund only when I send the device back to apple which I never had (Strange)

UPS said they're still investigating this incident and they were waiting paperwork from Apple so they could give me refund. But Apple is still telling me that investigation is complete.


What should I do now?

I'm in Georgia, Europe. Yes friend sent me this package via UPS. First, UPS was telling me that the package was kept by reciever. but reciever is telling me that the box was empty and they returned it. So I asked UPS to send me proof of delivery but they cant do that. UPS is telling me different stories . I dont have insurance of package so they only refund 100$ and shipping . I think i lost my money and phone and i cant return anything.

So wait, first you said that you were in the US and then you say that you are not because you are in another country as there are no Apple resellers there.


From what I gather, you used a forwarder who seems to be based in Skokie, Illinois.. How do you know UPS (or Apple) are responsible for the missing phone. Maybe the forwarder lost it; maybe it got "lost" while being held up at customs in your country.

My bad. I'll clarify that.

I'm not in USA, freight forwarder is in Skokie. My sibling runs that office. I didn't order it to her house because I was afraid of porch pirates (I heard some of the carriers leave expensive packages outside the door) so I ordered it to her office. She reported the package was missing when she received the package from UPS driver, not after shipped to me. Package is still in Skokie in her office.

I got her security cam footage because I thought Apple would require any proof that package was missing in the beginning.

Thanks for clarifying. Does the cam footage show the guy opening the package? Seems you have a strong case if it does.


I also use forwarders, but I make it a point never to order expensive or electronic merchandise. You never know, as the chain of custody is broken and if something happens, the finger pointing begins. Plus, things have a knack of "disappearing" at customs.


Anyways, good luck with your claim. Hope you get a refund.

BTW, an addendum. This is not surprising. There has been a lot of freight being stolen off of trains recently, especially around the LA area. It has gotten so bad , most shipping companies are avoiding LA rail yards like the plague.


The thieves are so brazen, the open the packages, (mostly from Amazon) and leave the open boxes on the tracks.


In your case, seems surprising the driver stole it (from what I understand).
