Using iCloud mail to serve mail for my Google custom domain

I succeeded in changing custom mx records for my domain, (Google let it save), according to Apple instructions Yesterday at 11am. Yet I am not getting those emails on icloud or able to send. Does it really take 72 hours? Has anyone done this successfully?

I put iMac but of course I would want this to work across all my devices.

All set.. deleted that account/server. so relieved. Replaced it with icloud mail. Happy to be an early adopter of this new feature.. I feel safer with the related new privacy features as well. As the computer is so a part of our lives now, mental health is important. Feeling a lot better. Thanks!

I got the email " Your Custom Email is Ready" "You're ready to use iCloud Mail to send and receive email with your custom domain. "

I sent an email from icloud.com/mail but it didnt appear in my gmail folder on mail.app. It does appear in iCloud.com/mail sent folder.

In internet accounts, and in mail.app I noticed under server for me@mydomain.com it says Google. I think I need to delete this account and just have icloud and gmail. Does that sound right?
