My MacBook battery is showing an X symbol. I tried fixing SMC but it’s not working. Every time I unplug laptop from the adaptor it shuts down. Last time I fixed it it worked but now it’s not. I’m pretty sure there are some tips to manage it so I would appreciate some help here.

It sounds like your battery is dead. Click on the battery icon. If it says "Service", you need a need battery. Contact an AASP.
