Export Contact List

Is there a way to export macOS contact list to an excel or csv file?

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

Easiest way is to drag the selected contacts into a blank Numbers sheet.

You have to clean it up a bit (like remove the contact pictures). Then, export it as a CSV.

You can also use Automator.

Create a new Workflow

Drag in a Get selected contacts Action.

Drag in a Get Contact Information.

Set it to Spreadsheet (tabs) format.

Select the items you want to export.

Add Labels with create headers.

Combine Names merges first/last names.

Drag in a New TextEdit Document



Open Contacts and select the contacts you wish to export.

Click the Run button in Automator.

When the TextEdit document opens, find any fields that contain commas and enclose the field in double quotes (not smart quote). Use Find and Replace to change tabs to commas.

Save the file as .csv.
