Scrolling issue on Big Sur and Monterey

I have a macpro (late 2013). I was using Big Sur for a while with no issues. However, this morning I noticed that several app windows, including the Finder window automatically scroll to the bottom or to the extreme right as soon as the mouse enters that window. Further, if I try to scroll back to the top or left, the window scrolls back to the extreme opposite. It means that I can't access files nor read/edit them.

I then upgraded to the latest Monterey release, hoping this bug does not appear there. Unfortunately I still have the same issue.

I don't think it has anything to do with the mouse.

Anyone experiencing a similar problem and/or know of a fix?

Help greatly appreciated,

Many thanks.

I haven’t experienced this or heard about it from others. Are you using a 3rd party pointing device? If so, uninstall the driver software and switch to something else.
