Ram usage

I need to take a test of of my Mac and it’s saying I’m over the requested percentage for my RAM usage. How do I decrease my RAM usage

MacBook Air 13″, OS X 10.11

You can go to the utilities folder and click on activity monitor memory. and look to see what apps or programs or processes are using large amounts of memory. If they have either a startup or login feature. See it you can disable it. This would include items that are in system preferences Users & Groups Login Items. There you can click on them and then at the bottom click the - button. It will not delete the app just the login.
