video streaming issues on safari

It sounds like videos from a particular website are not working with Safari. Here are some resources that may help.

• Could the videos on this webpage require a plug-in? If so, this would be expected behavior as seen in How to install Safari extensions on your Mac
  • "Safari no longer supports most web plug-ins. To load webpages more quickly, save energy, and strengthen security, Safari is optimized for content that uses the HTML5 web standard, which doesn't require a plug-in. To enhance and customize your browsing experience, use Safari extensions instead of web plug-ins."
  • You can also check to see if an extension could be preventing the videos from running.

• If it is not related to a plug-in or extension, you can check other settings for other features such as Content Blockers and pop-up windows Change Websites preferences in Safari on Mac.

• If you subscribe to iCloud+ (have additional iCloud storage) see if you have iCloud Private Relay turned on About iCloud Private Relay. If so, review the information user "If a website or network doesn’t work with Private Relay" to see if this could be the cause. 

• If it continues, see if there are any troubleshooting steps in If Safari on Mac doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected that you haven't tried.
