iPad with 15.3.1 iOS update load e-mails very slowly

Every since I updated my iPad with the latest 15.3.1 iOS update, my email is taking an extremely long time to load or sometimes the mail app just closes. I even turned it off and on but it did not resolve the issue. Any way to fix this?

I talked to Apple support because I was having this problem and they told me to delete the original email app and reinstall a new one from the App Store. Worked perfectly. Everything is working as it should.

Likewise here, my iPhone was the problem device. I removed each of the accounts per Apple support. With no accounts I noticed that the email app was still very slow opening. I then deleted the iOS email app and re-installed it. Added each mail account one at a time checking after each one for performance. Each account loaded without issue and the email app ran perfectly.

Kudos to Apple support and their patience and willingness to work with me through this.

Try the solution that worked on my iPhone, make sure everything is accessible on a computer or other device and on your iCloud. Remove the accounts, delete the mail app, RE-install the mail app, add each account back on your iPad checking to see how it works after each is added.

I had the same issues most everyone is complaining about and had been growling about it since earlier in the year. I did the aforementioned and finally the iOS mail on my phone is working perfectly.

My husband sat on the phone with Apple for 4 hours. The issue seems to be fixed.

We had to restore to factory settings and set up as a new device.

Don’t restore from the settings on iCloud or you’ll have the same issues.

The tech was very nice. As we were on the phone, a programmer came through. They are aware of the situation. They are trying to fix it but IOS 16 is coming in Sept. Hopefully, that will fix it or call support.

Good luck to all still having the issue.

Patience is the word of the day.

Weird that this is so variable.

As I’ve posted before, did the following on my iPhone and it works and has worked for over a month.

Delete your mail accounts (might want to screenshot settings, etc but they seem to come back).

Delete the app.

Reboot the phone/iPad. Be sure this is power off and on!

Reinstall the app.

Reattach accounts.

Did this over a month ago and no issues since. I originally thought it was some port was blocked and the reinstall fixed it but looking at all the cases and the gmail app maybe helping, who knows.

BTW, this is a user forum. Apple does not look at it.

Well, so far so good!

My mail seems to be loading normally so far……. Here is what I had to do- First, I deleted the Mail App. I restarted my iPad. I turned on each of my e- mail accounts and waited for them to load. I noticed that a number of e-mails loaded with No Subject, but if I opened them the contents were there. Some loaded with No Subject, and No Sender. Again, if I opened them, the content was there. This was pretty frustrating AND the Mail App was still loading extremely slow just like before. This was worse than before, so I “bit the bullet” and decided to completely wipe the iPad. I keep my iPad backed up every day, so I knew I could do a complete backup after erasing everything.

So far so good. I got my e-mails back with correct subjects and senders. The Mail App seems to be loading normally as well.

This has been normal for a full day so far. But alas, I did lose all my Wordle stats, but I keep a record in my Notes App, so I am okay with this small inconvenience…..

Hope this helps others.

It did not work for me either. So I went a different route—. See below.

If you didn’t do it this way, try it. Delete the mail app. Reboot the phone or ipad. Reinstall the app.

if you don’t reboot in between it doesn’t clear memory. I did that and all my mail accounts have worked since early last week.

And probably no point in addressing Apple, they don’t read these. If you call them and point them at this you’d think it would mean something though!

Yesterday I tried deleting the mail app, then reinstalling. I had done this 2 weeks ago and it did not work then. But I figured “ What the ****!” With other users claiming success doing this. I also deleted all the emails which had reloaded with No Sender and No Subject. Those I needed to keep I either printed or forwarded to myself. That seemed to do the trick. Working fine now. Emails loading normally. Fingers crossed.

I have been having this issue for the past month. I spoke with Apple Support and we deleted a lot of emails but it didn’t work. Yesterday, I accidentally deleted the blue mail App from my phone. I had to re download it from the Apple store and set up my email accounts again. This actually corrected the issue. My emails are loading as normal now.

I’ve posted this before, but will repeat in case anyone hasn’t seen it......

Support talked me through deleting and reinstalling the app, and it worked - for just 24hours! Then it got stuck again

Following advice from someone on here (thanks!) I installed the Gmail app (which can be used for other email providers too) and not only does that work fine, but it seemed to clear a blockage in the apple app, so now that is working ok too.

If it gets sluggish, I use the gmail one, but mostly I use apple

Hope that helps anyone who is struggling, but I completely agree - this is Apple’s problem, and it’s unacceptable that they haven’t fixed it

If you have your email backed up with iCloud you won’t lose anything. I deleted my three emails and the mail app. Rebooted my iPad, downloaded & installed the mail app, set up my emails one at a time checking them to see if they worked...they all did. It’s been working perfect for the last month since I did all of this. Everything I had in iCloud loaded back in the email.
