Failed to update macOS 12.3

MacBook Pro 14 2021, I upgraded the macOS 12.3 that was just released this morning. After clicking Restart Now, the progress bar started to read. It restarted with a black screen in less than half (normally it should show how many minutes are left), and then flashed twice in white. Apple logo, and then restarted to enter the update progress bar (for more than ten minutes). After entering the system, I found that the macOS 12.2.1 version before installation was returned, and an error pop-up window was reported: Unexpected restart. The error report has only one line of code:

SOCD report detected: (iBoot panic)

There was also a problem with the installation when the beta version was released before. I tried three times, the first update failed and I returned to macOS 12.1. The second update failed, and the white Apple logo flashed repeatedly at startup. The third update failed. Black screen.

I have tried booting in safe mode, creating a new administrator, and downloading the full macOS installation package, but none of them work.

Anybody has the same problem? How can I troubleshoot the problem?

I have a Macbook Air 2019 with 12.2.1. Nothing was ever replaced in this computer nor the logic board. Still fail to update to 12.3.1.

After first stage the computer shuts down completely (not a restart as expected)
When I turn it on (tried different timing even after one hour) it will finish the update
No visible error
System will show 12.2.1 and "a new update is available" 12.3.1

Tried few times, will probably await for a fix...I need to laptop and it works flawlessly except from able to update OS.

Anyone with the same anomaly? computers with no new logic board?

16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

Unable to upgrade beyond macOS Monterey 12.2 tried numerous times to each notice from Apple. Completes the download and states unable, please try again. Check your internet connection. No luck with 12.3.1, 12.3, and last try 12.4. I pay for and receive 80 mbps. I give up. The downloads were in the sequence noted all offered by Apple updates.

Apple used to be reliable. I am having my doubts.

4 tries this morning. Same error message. Only my Mac Mini connected directly to the modem router. Download every time, gets to last 5 minutes and the screen shot appears.

frustrated. Thanks for the positive thoughts, but no luck.

I should say, there are a few of us with this issue across Reddit and other forums, so I suspect there is something fundamentally wrong here.

I had a logic board replaced in January due to a faulty TB4 port. I am impacted by this issue and get the same error as @fyime posted. I'm reporting to Apple support.

yeh I think that’s the best bet! Hopefully enough people will report they’ll spot the pattern. Please let us know what they advise!

9to5mac and Macrumors both running stories on this issue now, so hopefully we might get some news soon enough about how to resolve this!

thx for suggestions - I stay on current version (12.01) and wait till next week to see if Apple has an updated macOS version.

My logic board was also changed. I hope Apple will soon fix the 12.3 issue.

I have my MacBook repaired not long ago. Since then I was not able to upgrade the macOS, no matter what I did :-/

Is anyone else seeing it? Update screen now saying that 12.2.1 is up to date. They're probably releasing it in waves. I'm going to wait to see what experience others have before bricking my machine.

I can’t see it either. But the release notes say that they fixed something related to Macs not updating to 12.3.
