Apple Watch Fitness Tracking Inaccuracy

Has anyone had any issues with their Apple Watch (series 3) recording workouts inaccurately? Specifically lap swimming in pools? I have my watch set to the right distance, but it seems like it always skips laps. I know it doesn't usually count kicking laps, but mine will skip actual swimming laps. Wondering if this is simply a sign to upgrade or if there's something I'm doing wrong.

Hi apulizzano,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communicate. We can see that you're having some issue with your Apple Watch and your swim workouts.

To get the best results from your pool swim, use these steps:

Pool Swim: When you start a workout, be sure to accurately set the pool length to help your Apple Watch measure laps and distance. GPS isn't used during a Pool Swim, and water might prevent a heart-rate measurement, but calories, laps, and distance will still be tracked using the built-in accelerometer.

You can find additional information here: Swim with your Apple Watch

You can also find details about how to get more accurate readings for other types of workouts here: Calibrating your Apple Watch for improved Workout and Activity accuracy

Take care.
