Apple Watch 7 slow charging with Belkin BoostCharge PRO after 8.5

Hi,

After updating the Apple Watch 7 to WhatchOS 8.5 it stopped fast charging with Belkin BoostCharge PRO. It used to charge very fast and now is very very very slow (about 5% in one hour). Any idea of how to solve this issue?

Thanks!

Solving the issue is up to Apple and Belkin. However as a work around until a fix to WatchOS is available try the following;

Place watch on Belkin Charger, wait a few seconds till it switches to charge mode (Green Watch Face)

Remove it from charger , wait a second till it flips to normal watch mode then replace on charger.

I've been doing this for awhile (weeks) and it works consistently to allow fast charging on a Series 7 watch , and Belkin Fast (Watch) Chargers. Belkin has also mentioned this recently on their support Twitter.

The problem you mentioned with the Belkin boost pro charge 3 in 1 with your AW7 is solve with the test version of the new release AW 8.6.

those tests versions are available for the public and you can charge it before they will publish the official version of these release.

I’ve the same problem before and with these test version it’s solve.

regards.

This has been happening with my S7 with the Belkin Boost Charge Pro as well. I have it on the USB-C puck now and it is fast-charging like normal. I’ve tried hard resetting and hasn’t worked, though I might try some of the other suggestions people listed in this thread.

The sad part here is that Belkin’s Charge Pro has the “Made for iPhone” and “Made for Apple Watch” seals so it has been officially licensed by Apple themselves so WatchOS 8.5 definitely broke something with the way the software recognizes the charger.

I’m in the same boat; I’ve had the AW Series 7 for only one week now.

The Belkin Boost Charge Pro Portable (which I bought from the Apple Store) worked great for the first two days, until I updated watchOS to 8.5.

Fast-charging was a major factor in my choosing Series 7 over the SE; my use requirement for the Apple Watch is pretty much 24/7, so I needed to be able to do quick charge-ups a couple of times a day. For the first two days using the watch, I could do this easily. Since watchOS 8.5, not so much.

I’m sure that disabling fast-charge (on at least some chargers) in the OS update was done in error, but from what I’ve found online, it’s at least the third time that Apple have done this (8.1.1, 8.3, and now 8.5, apparently).

I can understand making a mistake, but to keep making the same mistake repeatedly really shakes user confidence.

The fast-charging design Belkin have deployed in these chargers is surely made to Apple’s specification, so I am really struggling to understand how this problem has arisen in the first place, let alone several times now.

Apple, could we please get some sort of commitment to stop breaking fast-charging with future OS updates? That would really mean a lot to many of us Apple Watch S7 owners, I am quite sure.

I can confirm the same problem with Belkin fast chargers. I have two BOOST↑CHARGE PRO's and they worked perfectly ever since purchase. Could have sworn the other one still worked so I contacted Belkin, returned the charger and was sent a new one. But the new one did not work either so I checked the other one and realized it also did not work. The stock Apple charger that came with the watch works fine but both Belkins are bricked. Had no clue why but then started seeing articles about this problem. Hope they fix it soon in an update. Belkin is supposedly an authorized fast charge accessory - the only one far as I understand.

Not sure it qualifies as a "huge" bug, it would depend on how many people bought a BoostCharge. At this point I would suggest that you, and everyone else, that has a Belkin BoostCharge contact both Belkin AND Apple and report the problem. And if Apple asks your help by running a profile on your Watch for testing volunteer for it.

garbage charger. Luckily I bought mine two days ago so I’m definitely returning it. But not before making a YouTube video about it since no one else has. And it seems that belkin and apple don’t really care since 8.5.1 is out and that did NOT fix the issue. I recommend fighting with them. (Not physical, duh). Apple/belkin sold you (and me) a product that doesn’t work as intended. Either keep asking for a replacement unit to keep adding costs up on their end, or ask for a full refund regardless of how much time has passed. It simply isn’t working. That’s it. It’s a broken product.

and now we have to wait on apples good graces to get it fixed? Lol yeah .. maybe next year.
