iPhone Email Badge missing in Notification Settings

I recently got an iPhone 13 mini, updated to the most recent iOS (15.4), and found that my unread email count is no longer displaying on the email app icon on the home screen.

When I checked the notification settings, the ability to select “badge” is not there. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I tried restoring and updating my phone but the issue persists.

Hey Samic009,

If you’ve already restored your iPhone and set it up as new but the issue is persisting, then you would want to reach out to Apple Support at the following link so they can look further into this with you:

Apple will link all the feedback into one big bug report. The one that has the most information will become the master. I don't care if it's mine as long as this gets fixed. Every time I talk to someone, and I have talked to People, they say the more people that have the problem the more likely it is to be fixed. But a couple have hinted, as I said before, that we might have to wait till the next major release to see a fix since the minor releases now are for major stuff.

Is the badge count correct. Mine came back too. I have been working with apple. Mine are gone after a restore also. The problem is in the backup. Even if I restore the backup without any apps the issue is there. Its almost all badge counts. They slowly come back but wrong. I figured out they tend to come back at the number they were on before the update to 15.4.

As of yesterday they are not signing 15.3..1 anymore but I spent a couple days testing. If I go back to 15.3.1 its fine but the second I upgrade the issue comes back.

Mine started when I updated it to iOS 15.5, updated it and now it doesn’t show any count what so ever. I am a cell phone technician, own a cell phone repair shop and tried every single thing I can think of to no avail. Hopefully enough people complain to get this resolved in a new update. It’s very annoying not knowing if you got any new mail unless you open the app or turn on notifications. But that will drive you crazy with dings.

Apple Engineers told me this will be fixed by the time iOS 16 is released but not in the current build.

I could not wait so I rebuilt my phone. Using a backup brought the issue back, but setting it up from scratch fixed the issue. It took a while. You can either restore to another iphone and use that as a template for rebuilding your phone or screenshot every folder.

I suggest you wait if you can.

If it's just the mail app to fix should work where you just reinstall it but for me it's all apps even third-party apps. The fix worked but having hundreds of apps it took a long time delete everyone and reinstall them. The other issue is you don't know how many other apps are not showing notifications if you're not getting them on regular basis.
