I recently got an iPhone 13 mini, updated to the most recent iOS (15.4), and found that my unread email count is no longer displaying on the email app icon on the home screen.
When I checked the notification settings, the ability to select “badge” is not there. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I tried restoring and updating my phone but the issue persists.

Apple Engineers told me this will be fixed by the time iOS 16 is released but not in the current build.
I could not wait so I rebuilt my phone. Using a backup brought the issue back, but setting it up from scratch fixed the issue. It took a while. You can either restore to another iphone and use that as a template for rebuilding your phone or screenshot every folder.
I suggest you wait if you can.

I appreciate the response. Very odd thing- the badge setting appeared back on my phone at some point this morning. I didn’t reset or restart my phone this morning but somehow it resolved itself. All good now!

Apple will link all the feedback into one big bug report. The one that has the most information will become the master. I don't care if it's mine as long as this gets fixed. Every time I talk to someone, and I have talked to People, they say the more people that have the problem the more likely it is to be fixed. But a couple have hinted, as I said before, that we might have to wait till the next major release to see a fix since the minor releases now are for major stuff.

Mine came back with the correct badge count. I’m not sure how or why but it’s back to normal.
Watch it closely. Send yourself a few emails or messages and see if the count is correct. Mine is driving me crazy because it will say 2 and there are 5 or say 2 and there are none.

I’m having the same issue. The “badges” option isn’t showing at all, but it says in the settings preview “banners, sounds, badges.”
It continues with the release of 15.5
Yep, it does I updated just before my previous posting to make sure! So annoying I can’t have sound notifications going off 24/7 I’ll never sleep!!
My badge notification for my mail app have disappeared as well… this happened right after I updated my phone. Can’t fix it now
