Photos cannot be synced to the iPhone because your iPhoto Library could not be found. Open iPhoto to create or update your iPhoto Library.

Alright, I still get this ridiculous error message every time I sync my phone with my computer over USB.

The two problems with this error message are

  1. I am using macOS Monterey; iPhoto has been deprecated several years ago and is not present anywhere on my computer.
  2. I don't have the option selected to sync photos inside finder, so it shouldn't be trying to sync anything anyways

I am running the latest macOS and iOS. Please help make this stop.

iPhone XS, iOS 15

I already have a Photos library, that my iPhone syncs to without issue every time I plug in my phone and open Photos. The only relevant piece of info is that my Photos library USED to be an iPhoto library, that was migrated over many years ago.

My phone must still have some recollection of this iPhoto library and looks for it for some reason. My first iPhone was the 5S, and never have I set up a new iPhone from scratch; Always from an existing phone backup. A clear solution would be to reset the phone and manually transfer all data, but I am not interested in that path.

CornWallis1,

To clarify, you receive the error message but are still able to import your Photos? Please test safe mode to determine if the issue continues there. Safe mode stops some software from loading, which could help to isolate the issue. How to use safe mode on your Mac

If the issue continues, try testing out another admin account. This will allow you to further isolate the issue to your specific user or the entire system, and help to determine your next steps. Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

We hope this helps!

Sincerely.
