Question: Q: Midi stopped working with iOS 15.4

I have the same problem. iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 2. None of the MIDI apps work anymore.

Same problem with iPhone 13 pro.

Midi stopped working with 15.4. The apps using midi are crashing.

Same problem here, after iOS 15.4 midi port doesn’t work anymore on my iPad Air 4th.

In the meanwhile, I found out that it is somehow related with the connected USB devices. I use a rather old Yamaha P-250 Stage Piano via USB. With this, none of the apps that try to scan for Midi devices, work anymore. If I use the iRig Midi interface and connect the Piano via DIN midi cable, everything works fine. With a new Midi Keyboard (Nektar GX 61), I still can use the direct USB connection. The problem might be related with older Midi standards.

Hi. Are you using a Din to USB cable? Is it that. I have a piano and it has the two interfaces. The USB-B and Din. I don’t have the Din cables, and I was using the USB-B to USB-A connected in an USB-C Apple adapter. If I connected a Din USB cable instead of an USB-B USB-A cable, do you think it will work?

I do not use these simple „cables“. For sure they contain more or less the same interface chipsets like the iRig MIDI interface. I can only say, that this is a functional work around for my setup. As the „cables“ are pretty cheap, I would recommend you to try it. Might be quicker as a bugfix by Apple.

Man, just found out this doesn't work with my Yamaha CP33. All my music apps crash now: Ravenscroft, Korg Module, Sunrizer, etc.. And I have a concert tomorrow. Gotta find another solution. Come on, Apple!

I solve my problem, i just change the keyboard, my 17 y. old Yamaha for a new Casio oxygen 61 m-audio.

It works for me also with a Yamaha P-125 B

And also update my iPad Pro 2017, iPhone 11 to iOS 15.4.1

And everything, all apps I have are working just fine

(I think that in the new iOS update is not included the old MIDI system)

Hi, as I wrote in the other chat, use the 5 pin DIN MIDI connection instead of USB at your CP33. For sure you need a MIDI interface from DIN to USB/Lightning. But this is a functional work around.

Same problem here same iPad pro and Yamaha Moxf8. I can't believe the iPad bricked the piano apps from working the second I updated the OS!
