Midi stopped working with iOS 15.4

Is anyone else having any issues with midi programs not working via camera connection kits to their music workstations via usb connected to the keyboard? My Yamaha M08 worked perfectly until iOS 15.4. All of my midi apps freeze, then crash with this update.

I reported first issue when get it on 15.4, in march 27, and I’ve sent a lot of logs and a lot of new information to them. I really don’t know why is so difficult to fix that.

Today everything works.


yesterday my iPad Pro 11” with iOS 15.5 did not work with either usb midi or usb audio connected to my Roland fp-90x keyboard


today my iPhone pro 13 iOS 15.5 and the iPad Pro worked fine


I got the iPhone working first and was surprised the iPad worked


i did have a power outage so my digital piano was disconnected from power. Normally it left plugged in but off.

I am switching jobs and haven't had the time to call apple so they can do a remote diagnostic and downloads the results. The reason this is hard is because you have to call apple, they do 2-3 transfer with long wait's before you get to the person that does the diagnostic. I did it once but my support rep told me they lost the data so I have to do it again. I came close to starting the test again but had to drop for a customer call. I am going to try again next week. Sorry guys but I'll keep at it. Please keep calling Apple.

I upgraded to 15.6 iOS this week and I’m very excited to say that the USB connection to my Yamaha Clavinova now works!! I am using a USB to “C” connection to my iPad. I believe after installing 15.6, I restarted my iPad even though that was part of the installation process and that is when it started working. Finally after months of having no direct connection I’ve got it back!

This past Saturday, I was able to download version 15.6. I installed it and the next morning, I connected my keyboard to to my original cck setup and it was still not working. This evening, I rebooted the ipad from a cold boot and reconnected the cck to the ipad and my keyboard and I am happy to report that my setup is now working again!!

Thank you to all who responded and sent feedback to Apple Support. Collectively we were able to show them there was an issue and it appears they listened and corrected the bugs! Thanks to all of you for getting Apple to see the problems and thanks to Apple for listening and fixing the issues!

Also I forgot to add. Simply Piano gave me a 3 month extension because of this issue and thanked me yo contacting apple. It’s sad that Simply Piano had to take the hit when it was an apple issue but I will stay with Simply Piano for a few more years because of how nice they are.


also the Apple developer rep said that our contacting apple helped get this fix into 15.6

Hi All!


I reached out to Simplypiano support for assistance, looks like Apple has made it more difficult to use third party cables.


They suggested to get the camera adapter and will extend my subscription once it’s working with all months lost :)

Thanks for getting back. Though it is possible that third-party adapters work, this error you screenshotted means that your device won't support it, which is common and why we highly recommend using the authentic adapters. It is quite common that a third-party adapter is used for some time and then all of a sudden, this error pops up.

Also, there are some reports that with iOS 15.6, Apple is even pickier about the setups. If you use an authentic Apple adapter, you shouldn't have any issues.

It’s August of 2022, I bought an iPad Pro 12.9 inch 5th gen [usb type c port] at the beginning of this year I think . And I didn’t find any issues connecting my iPad to CASIO WK7600 with musical applications like GarageBand and others app till march or April, after that I find difficulties connecting my iPad to the keyboard . The problem I’m having till now is - the MIDI works rarely on a luck, it’s hard to detect/connect the keyboard [only usb midi output] with usb midi cable to my iPad . I’m seeking a solutions for this …

Hello ,

I have an iPad Pro with type c port and I think I don’t need an adapter to connect any digital keyboard or midi keyboard to my iPad . I think the adapter you mention is only for lightning port iPad or iPhone.

still I’m seeking help from this community to fix my connection issues with my iPad Pro M1 5th gen and CASIO KEYBOARD WK7600. It’s hard to detect the midi input to my iPad .
